Extremely rare archival S/S 1992 Vivienne Westwood bridal shredded tulle and silk skirt made by Dame Vivienne Westwood herself. An extraordinarily piece of history, featured in the V & A museum, this was the very first of Vivienne Westwood's 'made to measure' bridal collections. A silk waist skirt is adorned with shredded tulle in a unique muted ecru colorway named 'dirt', which was Vivienne Westwood's favorite color. Concealed side zip closure with single gold-tone Westwood signature 'orb' closure.
The black version was featured on the runway on Naomi Campbell, and skirt seen on Vivienne Westwood for the March 1992 issue of Vogue (photographed by Lord Snowdon). After the photoshoot of Westwood, the skirt was thrown away. The Vogue team thought it was scrap fabric, particularly because the skirt was Vivienne Westwood's self-declared favorite color: dirt. Luckily, the Westwood team recovered the rare piece. Also featured in Elle UK's "Fly by Night" editorial in the September 1993 issue photographed by Peggy Sirota, and similar seen in the V & A Museum, created for Lady Bianca Job-Tyoran to wear to Queen Charlotte's Ball in 1994 (note that corset and stole are also available for purchase, sold separately and not included with purchase).
Provenance: The personal collection of a former employee of Vivienne Westwood, who worked directly with the designer in London.
In very good vintage condition with light wear throughout (light distress at left side waist and intentional deconstructed construction otherwise). Bra top used for e-commerce styling purposes only and is not included with purchase.
