A/W 1985 Gianni Versace black Oroton chainmail long sleeve gown, featuring rhinestone encrusted brooch by Ugo Correani. Fully black chainmail gown with long drape sleeves and concealed back zip closure. Silk-satin black asymmetrical trim neckline and trim at wrists. Moderate slit at back. Silver-tone geometric brooch is removable as desired. Versace's 'Oroton' chainmail is comparatively lightweight and fluid, with subtle drape throughout initially inspired by the film Excalibur. Similar featured on Patty Pravo in 1984, and seen in the A/W 1985 Gianni Versace ad campaign (with different brooch variation). A rare piece of Gianni Versace's early work with chainmail. In good / fair vintage condition; wear over time has created an additional slit in front and back where the chainmail has relaxed and split, which has been re-stitched in both areas.
